Alvin is a damp town, and its floors show it. The place grew up around a Santa Fe water tank and a set of cattle pens on Mustang Bayou, took its name from railroad man Alvin Morgan, and incorporated in 1893. The bayou is still here. So is the low, wet ground around it.
Older houses, acreage and loamy soil
Near downtown, off SH 35, a lot of the houses are old enough to have been through several owners and a few remodels. Carpet in those homes tends to be heavy and well used. Out on the edges of town, where people have a few acres, a barn and a couple of dogs, the trouble is different. Fine loamy soil comes in on boots and paws and settles low in the pile where a vacuum barely reaches. That soil works like sandpaper on the fiber, and with bayou-country damp in the air it can give a room that faint musty smell some houses pick up in August.
We hold one rule firmly in Alvin: don't soak the carpet. A heavy wet clean in a house that already holds humid air can leave the pad damp for a day or more, and that's exactly how the musty smell starts. Our method uses very little water. Whoever we send will look over each room alongside you, quote it up front, pre-treat the traffic lanes, then clean with a carbonated solution that floats soil to the top so it can be pulled away. Carpet is usually dry in about an hour.
Pets that go in and out all day leave more than mud. For urine we use a live enzyme treatment that reaches down into the pad, which you can read about on our pet odor treatment page. Here's the honest limit. If a dog has used the same corner for years, the plywood under the pad may be soaked through, and replacing a subfloor is a job for a contractor. We'll tell you if we think that's where you are.
Where we work around Alvin
We clean in the streets around downtown, in newer subdivisions like Mustang Crossing and Kendall Lakes, in Forest Heights, and out along the farm roads off SH 6. That includes families near Alvin High, home of the Yellowjackets, and around Alvin Community College, where the Nolan Ryan Center sits in his hometown. Fabric sofas, area rugs and tile kitchens are all on the menu along with carpet, and the rugs get cleaned right in your living room. Farmhouse kitchens with old tile take a beating from mud season, and our machine buffer gets the dark lines out of the grout without anyone on their knees with a brush.
Manvel and Pearland are neighbors we serve too. Call 281-299-0573 or book online, and same-day visits are often open when the schedule allows.
